This contemporary house on the banks of the Arno teaches us how to mix historic design and artisan craftsmanship

Wood, marble and luxury finishes for a large apartment in Florence that bears the signature of the architect and interior designer Maria Giulia Sala.

A contemporary house on the banks of the Arno, in Florence

A young woman , founder of an architecture and interiors studio that bears her name, experiences in Latin America and the UK, a cosmopolitan and elegant look , nourished with travels and studies of Industrial Design at the Faculty of Architecture in Florence and at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, with a Masters in Creative Practices for Narrative Environments . The narrative of the living spaces is an interesting starting point for speaking with Maria Giulia Sala about this brand new project of hers overlooking the Arno, a large apartment which, while keeping alive the historical and artisanal characteristics of the city - including certain stylistic precautions used in noble palaces of the past - however, it has the advantage of restoring a contemporary breath that is open to the world. Dry, one might say, but precious, welcoming.

A challenge that is not always easy to achieve when operating in such renowned period contexts. Also complicit in this "narrative" identity are the pieces of Italian design - true cult pieces - that Sala has added to the home décor of this contemporary house, with a pleasant blend of locally made tailor-made pieces, fine marbles and works of colorful art . We interviewed Maria Giulia in her study-office, in a beautiful building in via Ginori , in the pulsating center of Florence .
