"I've had the opportunity to spend hundreds of days at Puamana, Lahaina over the last 40 years. There was an amazing old clubhouse, gardens, and condos that were built from an old sugar cane plantation. I would often paint on the lanai, which wasn’t more then twenty feet from the shore. The gentle surf break and beautiful pool, built right over the ocean, provided entertainment for our family and friends.
We would walk into town for dinner, often at the Lahaina Yacht Club, which had an extensive collection of burgees (flags) that were donated from all over the world by patrons. The collection of native Hawaiian artifacts in Lahaina was extensive.
Now all is lost.
Time to rise up."Joli Beal
Being a gallery dedicated to championing our artists and the vibrant Orange County arts community, our constant focus revolves around enhancing our immediate artistic landscape. Nevertheless, our hearts were deeply saddened by the recent reports of the Maui fires, a place where art and nature thrived harmoniously. In the wake of the recent devastation in Lahaina and the stunning landscape of Maui, we feel a strong urge to contribute to the community that has significantly shaped the artistic creations of one of our artists, Joli Beal.
Many among our esteemed collectors are well-acquainted with her captivating series of plein air paintings that capture the essence of Hawaii. Each year, Joli embarks on a journey to the Hawaiian island, relishing moments with her family while immortalizing the natural magnificence through her paintings. The recent fires that ravaged the very places she once captured in her artworks have left her heartbroken. In a gesture of solidarity, Joli has generously decided to donate three of her artworks to support the recovery efforts in Maui.
Kennedy Contemporary is presenting these three exceptional pieces for sale, with all proceeds intended to aid the communities of Maui and Lahaina. The entirety of the funds generated from the sales will be contributed to Together Rising, a nonprofit organization deeply committed to identifying and addressing the on the ground needs of the Hawaiian people.
In light of this, we invite you to join us in making a difference. Through acquiring these exceptional artworks, you not only embrace their beauty but also contribute to the restoration and revitalization of the Maui and Lahaina artistic community. Let's unite through art and compassion to help rebuild and restore the spirit of these cherished landscapes. Explore the collection, make a meaningful purchase, and be a part of this inspiring journey of renewal.
