Here are four key lessons we’ve learned that guide us every day:
1. “Being important is nice, but it’s more important to be nice.” – Roger Federer
Relationships matter more than prestige. In the art world, it can be easy to get caught up in accolades or sales, but we’ve found that treating clients, artists, and collaborators with kindness and respect creates lasting connections and trust—far more valuable than any title or award.
2. Know Every Cent You Spend
Running a gallery requires both creativity and fiscal responsibility. Frugality isn’t about being cheap—it’s about making smart choices that allow us to invest in artists, exhibitions, and experiences that truly matter. Every dollar we spend is measured against the impact it will have for our artists and collectors.
3. Relationships Are Greater Than Sales
While selling art is important, the relationships we build with collectors, designers, and artists are what sustain our gallery over the long term. Many of our clients come to us not just for the artworks but for the expertise, guidance, and personalized experiences we provide. Fostering these relationships is at the heart of our mission.
4. Surround Yourself with Art AND Artists You Love
Passion drives everything we do. By surrounding ourselves with art and artists that inspire us, we cultivate a gallery environment that reflects our values and aesthetic. This authenticity resonates with collectors and clients, creating meaningful connections that go beyond transactions.
